IJN PRIVATISATION

Aku amat2 tersentuh kala membaca artikel berkenaan IJN di laman Tun Dr Mahathir tentang penswastaan IJN. Di sini aku paste kan sedikit tentang artikel tersebut.

2. With regard to the Institut Jantung Negara, I must say I have a personal attachment to it. I don't think I need to explain why. The IJN is really the institution that is physically closest to my heart.

6. Maybe I am biased because I owe my life to IJN. But I think as a corporatised institution the IJN has done extremely well.

7. If it is going to give the same service to civil servants and pensioners the Government will have to pay out the same amount of money after privatisation. How does the Government gain? Besides if the poor are going to be charged the same low fees and charges how does Sime Darby make money? Or will the Government continue to subsidise an ever growing bill for treatment of the poor? If so why is there a need to privatise? How does Sime Darby, a business entity make money when 80 per cent of the patients are poor?

8. Some of the major surgeries performed there are so costly that the IJN lost money on them. Will Sime Darby shoulder these losses?

11. Leave this institution as it is. It is our pride and it is doing a good job as it is.

Sebagaimana Tun, aku juga 'dekat' dengan IJN. Selama bertahun aku berulang alik ke IJN bawa mak aku mendapatkan rawatan di situ. Setahun yang lepas mak aku operate. Masa tu kos RM18,000. Mujur ada IJN foundation. Tapi tidak semuanya ditanggung oleh IJN. RM10,000 kena cari sendiri. Menggagau kami sekeluarga mencari bantuan. Kalau dah diswastakan macam mana pula?

Setiap hari IJN dipenuhi dengan pesakit dari pelbagai peringkat umur. Dari apa yg aku lihat, kebanyakannya orang2 kampung sama macam mak, abah aku. Kadang2 aku sedih tengok pakcik,makcik kampung yang datang bersendirian.

Ada seorang pakcik, sama wad dengan mak aku. Dia menangis kala melihat orang melawat mak aku. Dia sebatang kara. Dia discharge lebih awal dari mak aku. Bayangkan dia balik berseorangan ke Shah Alam menaiki bas selepas sehari operation.

Harap2, 80% pesakit yang miskin di IJN ini (salah seorang darinya adalah mak aku) akan terus mendapat rawatan dan pembelaan yang sewajarnya.
